It's a Partaaay!

The Ultimate Blog Party 2013...that is! This is another bloggy first for me, and it sounds like lots of fun! The party is hosted by Janice and Susan of 5 Minutes for Mom. Come on and just click the banner below to join the fun.

Ultimate Blog Party 2013

For those of you who are here because you've already joined the party, here's a little intro to me and my blog:

Hi! My name is Wendy. First and foremost, I am mother to Skylar and Weston, ages 21 (this week) and 17 who I've raised on my own from the time they were 3 and 4 weeks. I feel that I have done an amazing job as they have both grown into grounded, genuine, witty, and respectful young men.

I'm also a 14 year veteran teacher in a small town just north of Memphis, TN...with every last one of them in second grade and even the same classroom. How lucky am I! With all the materials and resources I've collected over the years, it would take more than a few rolling chairs and shopping carts to move me. I'd, at least, have to borrow a couple of golf carts.

My blog (not yet even 2 months old) and I (not yet even 50 years old) haven't really found our niche in the blogosphere quite yet. Initially, I intended to showcase teaching ideas, resources, and funny instances. However at the moment, it's more of a hodgepodge of social, personal, and professional experiences and think-alouds. I'd absolutely love for you to follow my journey on bloglovin' or GFC and share your impressions and suggestions.

*Thanks for dropping by!

  8. Hi! Your blog is adorable and sounds interesting! I like blogs that are a hodgepodge of thoughts and ideas. I think it helps me connect to the author which is important in engaging your readers and bringing them back to your site.
My background is in elementary education as well-- although I've never taught 2nd grade! I've taught fourth and fifth grade in the general education classroom and then worked as a reading specialist. My blog focuses on early literacy. Come check it out.

  9. Congratulations on starting your blog. You'll find your niche but a hodgepodge is good as well because that's pretty much what motherhood is. Fellow Tennessean here -- Nashville. Visiting you from UBP13.

  11. Hiya Sweet Life! This is such a cute blog. I've learned from my experience thus far, and The Wife's, to just keep writing and sharing. Most importantly is to write what excites and inspires YOU. If you try to hard to please others, you'll get jaded. So keep it up and remember, one of my most memorable teachers was in the 2nd grade. Ahhhh,...Mrs. Zwuakenburg....

    1. Hi Just Wild. I'm so glad you decided to pay my blog a visit and even happier that you chose to continue following! I so appreciate your encouraging remark about the design because I read someone's post a few days ago saying that, when she first started her blog, it looked like a scrapbook threw up all over her screen. Ever since, I've been a little worried that mine might look somewhat like that. Once I start placing more teaching content on here, I might call on you from time to time for a little advice. By the way, I followed you on GFC. Hope you enjoy the rest of the UBP13.

  13. I'm glad to have found this through UBP13! I'm kind of a newb to blogging, but I'm loving it so far. I'm an educator, former foster parent (for kids with emotional, physical, and mental disabilities) and adoptive dad of two kiddos with special needs. It's been great reaching out, talking to, and hopefully helping other families! My whole blog is all about learning to learn and helping families succeed using brain-based practices. Come check it out. I think you will like it! www.wiselearners.com

  14. Hopping over from UBP13. I was a public school teacher for 6 years. Then ...I homeschooled for 10 yrs, but now mine are all grown up. I also like to cook, craft & write.

I'll definitely be back to see what activities you are sharing. My daughter teaches 1st grade & I'm always on the lookout for her, as well as my homeschool moms. You might like to use some of our fun activities with your kids like Oreo Moon Phases or our Lucky Charms Graph.
